About Us

When '000' is not an option, the rules change ... plain and simple! Wilderness First Aid Australia was established in 2010 to fill a vast need for high quality remote area first aid training in Australia. All WFAA trainers are experienced in all facets of remote area environments and have been trained specifically in the areas of remote area patient care. WFAA has sourced instructors from a variety of vocational fields ranging from nursing, paramedics, ski patrolling, Wilderness Emergency Medical Technicians (W-EMT) & professional outdoor educators.

WFAA staff not only teach in Australia but have experience in instructing courses in countries such as: USA, NZ & India, expanding instructors educational, cultural experiences. It has also helped develop a business that understands the diversity of wilderness medicine training on a global scale.

WFAA deliver courses comprising of both Emergency and First Aid units throughout Australia. The units achieved by WFAA students can be credited towards a range of nationally accredited qualifications. This has allowed WFAA to broaden its scope and offer a range of short courses and certification opportunities tailored to meet individual needs.

WFAA will continue to develop regional specific curriculum and training programs to ensure all students receive the best wilderness first aid training in Australia.

WFAA has trained hundred's of students over the past 5 years. With course and student numbers continuing to grow.

WFAA staff have extensive first aid training, choosing to specialise in wilderness/remote area injury and illness.

WFAA instructors get their start as professional outdoor educators, urban EMT’s, Intensive Care Paramedics, Nurses, Ski Patrollers and Guides. Then they come to us.

WFAA curriculum is evidence based.
We teach wilderness medicine practices and protocols that are supported by Australian Resuscitation Council and backed up by professional organisations i.e. Wilderness Medical Society, Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia, Australian Wound Management Aust. etc.
